NEW THREAD: ONE DROP

ONE DROP
TONY MUJICA

One drop of precious Holy blood
Is all I need.

Over any charge, trial or trib',
It's what I plead.

Of all the helps Holy Blood can give
It points to the life that one should live.

From love's passion, our Savior poured out.
He laid my path, His way, the route.

Old sin, new sin, future sin erased,
No, not a drop was given in waste.

Access to the Father, an onramp to heaven -
Not just for me, but for all my brethren.

The sacrifice was made, then Abba smiled,
A Fatherly embrace is now for every child.

REPLY to ONE DROP

ONE DROP

One drop of Your oil
makes the Fire

One drop of Your tear
makes the Ocean

One drop of Your blood
dissolves everything

Makes my Canvas
white

Turns all colors
Into Light

So, I dip my brush
Into the Fire

And I dip my brush
Into the Ocean

And I dip my brush
Into the Blood

And I watch the dance
Of the New
Creation

In response to, " One Drop" Tony Mujica
MY LORD AND MY GOD
When they killed
the Author of Life
a curtain burst apart,
spontaneously ripping
from top to bottom
in that small room
filled with the scent of incense.
Clouds suddenly raced,
thunder screamed
across the sky.
In places the earth
cracked deeply apart.
Darkness fell
in that place.
It is thought
God, the Father
in sorrow and righteous rage
turned his back.
The sacrifice of all sacrifices
foretold from the beginning
in all the blood
witnessed by the Torah,
remembered by a people
announced one blood needed
once and for all time.
A lamb was the symbol
for Him who came
pure and without blemish.
A lamb led to the slaughter,
blood spilled to atone.

In response to Tony's poem, "One Drop"

ONE DROP
One drop
of your blood
and I am born
One drop
and my spirit soars
I am a new song
a new stone
I sing to a new creation
and creation sings back
Can a Rock bleed
a stone sing?
We are the stones birthed
from the sacred womb
of the rejected Rock
Our songs fill creation
with melodies of delight
birthed in darkness
filled with light
What wonder is this
that a stone sings
and a Rock bleeds
That the earth is filled with light
before the sun is born

First Entry: JAZZ FOR THE BONES OF THE LOCUST TREE

I had a wonderful opportunity to write a poetic response to my Serbian friend, Jelena Bogdanovich’s poem through Facebook. I sensed what it’s like to do back-to-back poetry, much like wrestlers do with tag-team wrestling. I am reminded of tag-team evangelism on the streets of Chicago years ago with friends. We would take turns, have a go at it, and then, pass the mic on to the next person, who would add from where the last person left off.

It seems to me that Tag Team evangelist poets wrestle with God, but with words.

Here is Jelena’s poem:

JAZZ FOR THE BONES OF THE LOCUST TREE

You're the rain that falls on my bones
Of the locust tree;
A pearl, on my most fragile joints.
So, You are playing jazz
On Your giant contrabass
With the percussions
Of rain
In the background
You know very well
I would not believe You a word
Today, so you come as a music
Soaking my ground:
"Girl,
I'm not ashamed of your humanity..."

And here is mine along with one of my paintings:

HORSE CAT TREE

expressed jazz moans
in soulful tones
through loans from various sources
like trees,
like cats,
and horses

the bassist plays in
expressive ways
a bow across the strings
and the wooden bass sings

the chambered cry
of a felled tree
no wonder why
but i feel free
at cost of
horse, cat, tree

more like a wail
it weeps without fail as
horsehair bow brings
sounds so low
from catgut strings
causing my heart's glow
